We are glad you stopped by.
Aurora B. is a small family owned business run by us, Jim and Shanti Bush. Jim does all the cutting and polishing. He is the artist. I do all the photography and administrative tasks. I also get to see all the beautiful stones as they are taking shape. It is great fun.
It is exciting for us to share these opals and gems with you. They are amazing, sparkling examples of geology. Most of the opals we are showing are from Australia, but some are from Montana, Idaho and Mexico. The gem stones are from all over the world.
Jim has been in love with and collecting opals for 30 years. As his wife, I have received some very lovely gifts of opals, but this is the first time we are presenting these opals to you. After hours of deliberating he determines what the best way to cut them are, then he gets down to work and cuts, shapes and polishes each one. He sees the potential in each stone. He truly is an artist.
They look just like rock in their rough stage, but if you look carefully they will show you their hidden color within.
Each opal is an individual, just like each of us. Some shine very brightly and some are shy and shine only a little. Each opal has their own characteristics of color, pattern, clarity, size, and intensity. There are pin patterns, square patterns, and broad flash, and they can all be in the same stone.
